The ancestral veneration that began in October is not yet finished. Regardless of your spiritual beliefs or practices, this is a call to be mindful of the calendars you adhere to and the schedules you keep. Pay attention particularly to those that are based on the creation of another mind, another soul’s intention. What does your own heart say? What do you feel you would like to do, with any moment, in any phase of your life?
As with the 9-5 job, or the allocated public holidays, there is a constant relinquishing of personal choice, the giving over of autonomy to external systems and expectations. This is the month to routinely check-in with yourself and ask why you’re taking the actions that you are. What’s driving them? Is it your head, your gut, or is it simply unquestioned rules that you’re following?
