One of the biggest insults | crimes | untruths leaked into the human race is the illusion of separation. The belief that we are separate from each other to various and solid degrees; gender, skin, emotion, thought. These useful and convenient layers we use to identify ourselves will make life more manageable, only until we forget they are only layers, not a summation of who we are.

Imagine believing the clothes you have on are what define you. Imagine believing they make you better or different from someone else. Maybe you don’t need to imagine so much, maybe it is more of a remembrance for you, of less than stellar judgements you’ve made.

Why is this unravelling of separatism important? It’s important because good mentoring is not about why your layers are washed out, ill-fitting or stained. If you want to improve your life in a substantial and lasting way, you have to be willing to undress and remove everything.

Your layers, whether you personally perceive them as blessings or curses, are a combination of protection, armour, trauma, conditioning and societal expectations. In your current state, and how most people arrive to me, you are defined by them, but you don’t have to be.
